Making the best of a crappy economy!

The economy may be in the dumps but we still know how to have a good time...even without the boat and the jet skiis. Not wanting the old accessories to wither away in dust, we met Weston's brother Darin out at the Canyon lake Saturday to have some fun with his ski tube. It took a little while for my kids to get in the water. Emily was a little nervous to be swimming with fish. They've only swam in the lake a couple of times before. Eventually, when they saw how much fun the others were having, they got in too.

Cole cracked me up. He wasn't too keen on swimming out in the deep part so he pretty much stayed by the shore. He would get out as far as he could still touching the rocks then he'd push off and float back on his belly like a sea lion or something. It was hilarious!

The main fun was playing "king of the raft". Darin's oldest son Noah was having it a little too easy with all the kids half his size so both Darin and Weston took some turns taking him down!

Weston played dirty with chest knuckles. The kids didn't stand a chance!

Wes showing off his back flip. The boy isn't getting as much height as he used to. Ha, ha!

Wes finally took the little ones out. Cole really thought he was driving that thing. It was too funny!

One of the other reasons we headed out to the lake was so Cole could try out his new fishing rod. He's getting pretty darn good at it too! No fish this time but he had fun.

PS. I know I'm gushing about our humble little day trip without the "toys" BUT we are SO renting a jet ski next time! Just for the adults of course. ;)

Good for you guys! I've learned humble trips do tend to be some of the best ones but I'm will you...a jet ski for just the adults might add a little something! :)

looks like fun!! last year nathan's family rented jet skis...the younger kids even drove them and it was a blast. we plan to do that again this year if we can! but we've gone down there just to play in the water without the "fancy toys" and it was still fun too:)

How fun! It is almost warm enough here to think about swimming :)
